Using patient context
“Patient context” is the information Miraa surfaces about a patient to help you prepare for a consultation and to inform the draft note.
What patient context includes
Depending on what’s in the record and what your clinic has enabled, context can include:
- Demographics and identifiers.
- Known history, medications, and allergies.
- Previous consultations and their outcomes.
- Imported prior notes or external context, where your clinic uses it. See Clinical context.
How Miraa uses it
Miraa uses the patient record to help prepare you and to inform the draft note — for example, keeping continuity with previous plans. Context helps organise and draft; it does not make clinical decisions.
⚕️
Context is an aid, not a source of truth. Verify it against the patient in front of you. Records can be out of date, incomplete, or wrong, and imported context can carry old information forward.
Using context well
- Skim before you start. A quick review prevents surprises mid-consultation.
- Confirm with the patient. Check medications and history are current.
- Don’t copy forward blindly. If context is outdated or irrelevant, don’t let it into the new note. See Editing notes.
Privacy
🔒
Only access patient context you have a legitimate clinical reason to view. Access to records is logged. See Audit trail.
Common mistakes
- Assuming the medication list is current without checking.
- Letting an old problem or plan carry into a new note unchanged.
- Relying on imported context that hasn’t been verified.
Troubleshooting
- Context looks missing or thin? See Missing patient context.
