Note generation issues
Covers three related problems: a note that’s slow to generate, a note that didn’t appear, and a poor-quality draft or transcript.
Note generation taking too long
Symptom
The draft note is taking much longer than usual to appear.
Likely causes
- A weak or dropping internet connection.
- A long or complex consultation.
- A temporary service slowdown.
Quick checks & fix
Wait a little longer
Longer consultations take longer to draft.
Check your connection
A poor connection is the most common cause. Reconnect and retry.
Refresh and retry
Reload the page and see whether the note has appeared or generation resumes.
Missing generated note
Symptom
Capture finished, but there’s no draft note.
Likely causes
- Capture didn’t actually record (no transcript to draft from).
- Generation failed or was interrupted.
- You’re looking at a different consultation or patient.
Quick checks & fix
Confirm the right consultation
Make sure you’re viewing the correct consultation and patient. See Missing patient / context.
Check the transcript exists
If there’s no transcript, capture likely didn’t record. See Microphone issues.
Retry generation
If a transcript exists, try generating again.
If capture failed and there’s no transcript, document from memory as usual. A missing draft never removes your responsibility to document the encounter.
Poor transcript or draft quality
Symptom
The transcript is garbled, or the draft is inaccurate or thin.
Likely causes
- Noisy environment or a distant microphone.
- Overlapping speech, or fast/unclear speech for key details.
- Genuinely brief or unclear source audio.
Quick checks & fix
- Improve the recording setup next time — quieter room, closer mic, clear speech for medications and doses. See Ambient capture.
- Use the transcript to verify and correct the draft.
- Edit the draft thoroughly before approval. See Editing notes.
A weak draft makes your verification more important, not less. Never approve a note you haven’t checked against what actually happened. See Clinician approval.
When to contact support
Contact support if notes consistently fail to generate despite a good connection and a valid transcript.
What to include when reporting
- Whether a transcript exists.
- Your connection quality and browser/device.
- What you see instead of the note (no patient details).
