Recalls
A recall brings a patient back — for a review, a result, or ongoing care. Miraa helps you set up and keep track of recalls so patients don’t slip through the cracks.
Purpose
Make sure patients who need to return are followed up reliably.
How recalls fit the workflow
Identify the need
During or after a consultation, decide a recall is needed (for example, review in three months, or return for a result).
Set up the recall
Create the recall with the reason and timing.
Track it
The recall stays visible so it can be actioned when due. Overdue recalls should surface for attention. See Overdue items.
Contact the patient
When due, the patient is contacted per your clinic’s process. Any patient message follows the clinic’s communication rules.
A recall is a safety-relevant follow-up. Make sure the reason and timing are clinically appropriate, and that important recalls aren’t left unactioned.
Patient communication for recalls
Recall messages to patients may be handled by your clinic’s communication setup.
Automated reminders can help with routine recalls, but anything clinically significant, sensitive, or unclear should be handled by a person. Clinical judgment stays with the clinician. Needs confirmation — confirm how recall communications are configured for your clinic.
Privacy
Recall messages should reveal as little clinical detail as necessary — enough to bring the patient in, not to disclose sensitive information over an insecure channel. See Australian privacy.
Common mistakes
- Setting a recall with the wrong timing.
- Assuming a recall was actioned when it’s actually overdue.
- Including sensitive clinical detail in a reminder message.
Troubleshooting
- Recall not showing as due, or overdue recalls not visible? See Overdue items.
