Miraa produces draft content. A clinician must review and approve everything before it enters a patient record.
Tasks & follow-upReferrals

Referrals

Miraa can help draft a referral from a consultation, so the letter reflects what was discussed. As with notes, referrals are drafts for your review.

Purpose

Produce an accurate referral quickly, with the clinician approving before it goes anywhere.

How it works

A referral is drafted

From the consultation, Miraa can draft a referral — recipient, reason, and relevant history — for your review.

You verify it

Check the recipient, the clinical reason, and the details included. Make sure nothing sensitive or irrelevant is included by mistake.

You approve it

Approve the referral as the clinician. Nothing is sent on your behalf without approval.

It’s sent or exported

Send or export the referral through your clinic’s process.

⚕️

Review referrals as carefully as notes. Check the recipient is correct and the content is appropriate. A referral is a clinical communication that leaves your clinic — approve it deliberately.

Secure messaging & transmission

How a referral is transmitted depends on your clinic’s integrations. Secure messaging connectors (such as HealthLink) are not automatically live and may require partner approval before they can transmit. See HealthLink and Integrations overview.

Until a secure-messaging integration is confirmed live for your clinic, send referrals through your existing clinic process. Don’t assume electronic transmission is active. Needs confirmation

Privacy

🔒

A referral contains personal and clinical information. Only include what’s clinically necessary, and send it only to the intended recipient. See Australian privacy.

Common mistakes

  • Approving a referral to the wrong recipient.
  • Including irrelevant or overly sensitive detail.
  • Assuming electronic transmission is live when it isn’t.

Troubleshooting

  • Referral didn’t send electronically? Confirm whether your clinic’s secure messaging is live. See HealthLink.
